Implant-supported prosthetics restore the dental arch when one tooth, several in a row, or all teeth on a jaw are missing. The restoration is supported by titanium roots placed by the surgeon, not by adjacent natural teeth.
Single gaps are restored with ceramic or zirconia crowns. Several missing teeth may use a bridge on two or more implants. Full edentulism can be treated with fixed bridges on 4–6 implants.
The crown connects to the implant through an abutment. Retention may be screw- or cement-retained.

The main differences are support location, load distribution, and preservation of natural teeth.

- Chewing force goes to jawbone through the titanium post, limiting resorption and facial volume loss.Screw retention lets the prosthodontist remove the crown for service without damaging the implant.The restoration does not press on gums, rub mucosa, or cover palatal taste receptors.
- When another option makes sense
- If diagnostics and prosthodontic consultation show that:
there are temporary contraindications to implant surgery (severe systemic disease, acute inflammation, or post-radiation period);
a quick temporary solution is needed during orthodontics or healing;
- budget is limited now and a conventional bridge or partial denture is the priority.
- The prosthodontist may offer conventional tooth-supported or temporary removable prosthetics. The plan is individualized after 3D imaging.

Common questions about prosthetics on implants
Zirconia is often chosen for posterior teeth for strength. Anterior teeth may use E-max or layered zirconia for enamel-like translucency.
The crown is secured to the abutment with a screw and the access hole is filled with composite. It allows removal for service without damaging the implant.
In our in-house lab it usually takes 7–14 days after digital scanning or impressions.
After 1–3 days of adaptation the crown feels natural, chews normally, and should not cause discomfort.
Brush twice daily, use interdental brushes or a water flosser for peri-implant pockets, and have professional hygiene every six months.
